Met Weld has is seeking to fill a Welder/Fabricator position on the 1st shift in our Weld/Fabrication department.

Compensation: $20-$35 per hour based on experience and sustained performance .

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Spray GMAW (MIG), GTAW (TIG), weld prep and plasma cutting.
  • Cut, bend, drill, tap, and similar operations as required to fabricate intricate assemblies.
  • Operate bridge cranes and forklift trucks.
  • Must be able to read engineering fabrication drawings, layout, and weld structural fabrications.
  • Must follow written procedures and work instructions.
  • As an employee, you must maintain an average weld efficiency rating of 70% or better. The rating is based on historical data
  • Proper utilization of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Work within the scope of MWI's safety policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • HS Diploma / GED
  • Welding Certification from a recognized institution (preferred)
  • 2+ years' welding work experience
  • Knowledge and experience in primarily Spray GMAW (MIG), GTAW (TIG), weld prep and plasma cutting.
  • Experience operating bridge cranes and forklift trucks preferred.
  • Must successfully complete a pre-employment weld test.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

  • Capable of lifting 30 pounds
  • Capable of climbing
  • Able to bend and twist body in various positions.
  • Able to sit and stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to use two hands and two feet or equivalent to perform the tig welding process.
  • Must be able to hear well enough to communicate with his or her coworker during assembly procedures.
  • Must have good vision to control the size of the weld puddle to achieve high quality welds.
  • Ability to wear protective equipment while welding/fabricating. Typical protective equipment (supplied by or reimbursed by MWI) consists of; safety glasses, steel toed safety shoes and hearing protection (earplugs).

Job Type:

  • Full-time
  • First shift 7:00 am - 3:30 pm (M-F)
  • Overtime 5 - 10%
