Location: Brooklyn, NY. The role is on-site with the opportunity for occasional remote work.
Reports To: Director of Electrical & Firmware Engineering
Compensation: A base salary range of $125,000 to $145,000 gross per year, depending on the candidate's experience.

This Role:
BioLite is looking for a passionate Hardware / Firmware engineer. You will work with a motivated product development and manufacturing team to develop energy products used all over the world, from California to Nigeria. As a Hardware / Firmware generalist, you will focus on efficient, cost effective design and bring-up of PCBAs from conception to launch.
You Will:
- Board designer: Develop product architectures and select components which minimize cost and risk while meeting requirements. Use the BioLite EE lab as needed for prototyping and rework. Apply electrical engineering fundamentals (power, RLCs, switching). Use bench equipment (oscilloscope, logic analyzer, power supply, digital load) for test and development.
- Firmware developer: Own firmware development for low-cost microcontroller families such as STM32 and ESP32. Implement control systems, user interfaces, safety logic, and various communication interfaces. Debug and test your own designs. Practice and promote coding best practices, style, version control, etc.
- Team player: Assume responsibility for program-level goals. Propose strategies and solutions to diverse problems. Share risks, progress updates, and final results with the team. Prioritize and manage your time effectively. Embody team mission and values.
You Have:
- At least 5+ years' experience writing and validating firmware for consumer electronics, or similar experience.
- At least 5+ years' experience doing component selection, schematic capture, and layout for consumer electronics, or similar experience.
- Strong soldering and prototyping skills enabling instrumentation and experimentation.
- Proficiency with multiple microcontroller platforms, preferably platforms optimized for real-time power conversion or IoT such as C2000, STM32G4, or ESP32.
- Proficiency in C for embedded systems.
- Proficiency with Python.
- Proficiency with an ECAD platform such as KiCad or Altium.
- Knowledge of advanced PCBA skills such as hot air rework and blue wiring.
