Job Description: Description Duties Description As a Licensed Practical Nurse under the supervision of an RN, you would be involved in the treatment of residents. You would administer certain medications; observe residents and report changes in their condition; take and record temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure; and obtain specimens for analysis. You would prepare and apply simple dressings; bathe and feed residents; and care for residents and their quarters by performing such tasks as making beds, changing linen, lifting, and moving residents and caring for their personal effects.Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Eligible for or possession of a license and current registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse in New York State. Or in title or eligible for transfer in accordance with Civil Service Law or reachable for appointment from appropriate Civil Service List.The preferred candidate will also have long term care experience.Additional CommentsAt a future date, it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.
