Overview

CTG is seeking to fill a Database Administrator opening for our client in New York, NY.

Location: New York, NY
Duration: 12 months

Duties: We are in search of an experienced DB2 Database Administrator (DBA) with solid experience supporting DB2 v10 or higher on an IBM z/OS platform. The primary responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the City's payroll and pension payroll applications (PMS and PPMS).

  • Installing and migrating DB2 releases, executing data fixes, and implementing database recovery functions.

  • Defining and executing standard database tuning procedures such as runstats and reorgs.

  • Authoring and validating procedures for database-related tasks.

  • Identifying potential issues and delivering modifications or updates for DB2 programs.

  • Preparing and delivering migration instructions to Technical Support.

  • Assisting with systems tool upgrades and participating in Disaster Recovery drills.

Skills:

  • Expertise in IBM IMS V12 or higher.

  • Proficient in full-scope DB administration including backup/recovery, reorgs, and troubleshooting.

  • Familiarity with CICS Transaction Server.

  • Skilled in writing REXX scripts.

  • Ability to troubleshoot assembler code and COBOL programs using embedded DB2.

  • Experience designing solutions with Oracle Transparent Gateway.

  • Proficient in developing BMC BPPM Monitoring software solutions.

  • Knowledge of IBM Tivoli LDAP server on AIX.

  • Experience with IBM InfoSphere Replication Server for data propagation solutions.

  • Capability to install and manage DB2 on AIX platforms.

  • Strong background in large-scale, enterprise-wide financial and payroll systems, particularly those utilizing third-party solutions.

Experience:

  • Demonstrated history of hands-on DB2 administration on IBM z/OS environments.

  • Experience in enterprise financial/payroll application support.

  • Proven ability to collaborate with application development and technical support teams.

Education:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related Technical/Business discipline is required.

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.
