Job Summary:
The Senior Network and System Administrator manages and maintains CJA's network and system infrastructure endpoints, onsite and Azure cloud servers, and services. This position is key in maintaining the stability and security of our IT infrastructure and involves diagnosing and resolving technical issues, installing, and configuring hardware and software, and providing technical support and assistance to Agency staff. The position is based in lower Manhattan, requiring some travel to other agency locations throughout NYC as well as participation in a scheduled on-call rotation. The ideal candidate will have excellent problem-solving skills, strong communication abilities, and a customer-focused approach.
IT Systems Administrator Responsibilities:
- Manage Active Directory, Azure Entra ID, Microsoft Dynamics, and Office 365 (Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive), including user access, security, compliance, and troubleshooting.
- Administer Windows updates, patches, and security fixes across servers and client devices.
- Install, configure, and maintain VMware vSphere, vCenter, SAN, vSAN, and ESXi environments.
- Automate tasks using PowerCLI, Python, or Ansible.
- Deploy, configure, and support Microsoft Intune for endpoint management and security.
- Oversee Systems Management Appliance for network discovery, software deployment, asset tracking, and security policy enforcement.
- Manage and ensure compliance with Azure resources (servers, networks, storage) in commercial and government environments.
Network Administration & Support Responsibilities:
- Configure and maintain network devices (routers, switches, firewalls, servers).
- Monitor and optimize network health, performance, and security to prevent threats and ensure compliance.
- Analyze network trends and plan infrastructure upgrades as needed.
- Manage vendor relationships for network and IT services.
IT Support & Maintenance Responsibilities:
- Technical Support and Leadership: Provide A/V setup, assist with meetings, and support remote offices with network and infrastructure issues and ensure quality service delivery, stability, and flexibility.
- On-Call Coverage: Available after hours and on weekends on a planned rotation.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve IT issues, escalating when necessary, and maintaining accurate ticketing records
- Maintenance: Update and service Windows servers, workstations, phones, printers, and other IT hardware/software. Monitor and maintain networks (LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi).
- Documentation & Training: Maintain IT support documentation and provide end-user training as needed.
- Backup and recovery: Implement and maintain enterprise backup, replication, and recovery.
Education, Experience and Certification:
- Degree/Experience: Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or equivalent experience; 5+ years in network/system administration or similar role.
- Hands-on Experience: Windows OS (Server 2022, 10 & 11), Active Directory, Office 365, and Microsoft Intune, Ticketing systems (Quest Kace, ServiceNow, Zendesk), and hardware/software inventory management (SCCM, Quest Kace SMA).
- Device Management: Apple iPhone/iPad configuration, multi-function printer/copier maintenance.
- Troubleshooting: Backup failures, virus threats, and routine IT issues.
- Certifications (Preferred): CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, CCNA Security, VCP, AZ-900
Skills and Attributes:
- Networking: Cisco ASA, HP & Meraki Switches, Cisco Meraki Security Appliance, Meraki Wi-Fi, Juniper Firewall, Azure Networking & Security.
- Network Protocols: TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, WINS, SNMP, VPN.
- IT Systems: Active Directory, Azure Entra, VMware, Office 365, SharePoint, Veeam Backup/Recovery.
- Scripting: Advanced PowerShell automation.
- Remote Support: Teams, Quick Assist, Webex.
- Physical Requirements: Lift/move IT equipment (up to 50 lbs.), ability to participate in on-call rotation & travel to other CJA sites as needed.

LOCATION: Lower Manhattan
SALARY: $80K to $100K
Note: This is a hybrid role: 3 days in office Tuesday thru Thursday. 2 days remote - Monday and Friday
