The New York Deal Team is seeking a Development Intern to join their multidisciplinary group. As an Intern, you will be exposed to the full life cycle of affordable development in New York City – from assisting on future pursuits to participating on an active resident-in-place construction project in Brooklyn, NY. The Intern will join a team comprised of development professionals, architects, and engineers, and should have a demonstrated interest in exposure to all facets of development. The Intern will play a key role in financial analysis, project management, and public affairs/resident engagement alongside the deal team. Additional opportunities may be available in architecture/design on top of the core financial role if it is of interest.
Responsibilities:
- New Business: Contribute to competitive RFP pursuits and strategic partnership research.
- Financial Analysis & Underwriting: Assist in the financial modelling of acquisition and development projects or other research projects.
- Independent Research Project: Lead and present on an independent research project focused on a current topic in affordable housing.
- Design & Construction: Contribute to ongoing construction oversight and design efforts including RFI responses, FF&E projects, applications and close-out efforts, and more. Visit the Brooklyn project site and gain exposure to construction oversight activities, bank walks, and other onsite logistics.
- Interface with other Fairstead departments including property management, public affairs, and asset management.
- Participate in project meetings including financing, design, construction, and property management calls.
Requirements:
- The ideal candidate will have a background in city planning, architecture, acquisitions, real estate development, or real estate finance in the US
- Conversant in deal underwriting and financial modeling
- Knowledgeable in general real estate practices and principles
- Offsite meetings will be required – including travel
Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
Salary Range$25—$25 USD
