Are you passionate about working with preschool-aged children in an inclusive setting? Jowonio School is hiring a Special Education Lead Teacher to join our highly collaborative team. This role offers the opportunity to serve as a Lead Teacher with the potential to also take on an Administrative Liaison role for your classroom.
We are looking for creative, dedicated educators who value inclusion, teamwork, and innovative teaching approaches for children with diverse abilities.
Position Options:
Lead Special EducationTeacher (60% FTE)
- Classroom Leadership: Serve as the primary teacher in an inclusive preschool classroom, fostering a nurturing learning environment.
- Individualized Instruction: Adapt lessons to meet the developmental and academic needs of each child, including those with special needs.
- Collaboration: Work closely with therapists, support staff, and families to provide a well-rounded educational experience.
- Classroom Management: Implement creative, engaging, and structured activities that promote learning through play.
Lead Teacher & Administrative Liaison (80% FTE) (Includes all Lead Teacher duties plus additional responsibilities)
- Team Coordination: Facilitate regular collaborative team meetings with classroom staff, therapists, and parents.
- IEP Support & Compliance: Oversee the implementation of IEPs, track due dates for reviews, and support staff with CPSE/CSE documentation.
- Staff Development: Provide classroom observations, coaching, mentoring, and bi-annual staff reviews.
- Problem-Solving & Support: Engage in classroom problem-solving, curriculum planning, and behavioral intervention strategies.
- Parent & District Collaboration: Assist with student transitions, coordinate communication with districts, and help families navigate the CPSE process.
- School Leadership: Participate in school-wide initiatives, professional development, and community outreach.

Qualifications
Lead Teacher: NYS Teacher Certification (Special Education Birth-2 or related field) Required
Liaison Role (if selected): Additional experience in curriculum coordination, CPSE processes, and staff mentoring Preferred
Salary & Schedule
- Lead Teacher (60% FTE): $31,746 (10-month position, optional summer prorated)
- Lead Teacher & Liaison (80% FTE): $44,248 (10-month position, optional summer prorated)
- Schedule: Class Runs Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 11:15 AM (Lead Teacher), with additional hours for meetings, planning, and training
- Additional Liaison hours as applicable.
Compensation for this position is pre-determined based on our salary structure and is non-negotiable.
