Position: Elementary School Math & ELA Tutor (Grades 3-5)

About the Role:
We’re hiring one in-person tutor to provide small-group and push-in classroom support for grades 3-5 in Math and ELA at PS 134 George F. Bristow. The tutors will work closely with students and teachers during school hours, reinforcing literacy and math skills, strengthening comprehension, and fostering academic confidence in an engaging and supportive environment.
What You’ll Do:
- Provide small-group and push-in tutoring support in ELA and Math for students in grades 3-5.
- Work alongside teachers to enhance classroom instruction and offer targeted academic interventions.
- Support students in developing reading comprehension, writing, and math problem-solving skills.
- Foster a positive and structured learning environment that encourages student engagement and growth.
- Adapt to different learning styles and provide individualized support as needed.
Schedule:
- Days: Monday – Friday
- Time: 8:45 AM – 1:45 PM
- Duration: April 21, 2025 – May 16, 2025
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience: Previous experience tutoring or teaching ELA and Math at the elementary level.
- Subject Proficiency: Strong knowledge of grades 3-5 ELA and Math concepts.
- Engagement Skills: Ability to inspire and motivate students in a supportive learning environment.
- Collaboration: Willingness to work closely with teachers and school staff to align instruction with classroom goals.
- Adaptability: Capable of adjusting teaching strategies based on student needs.
- Commitment: Must be available for the full duration of the program.
