Aquinas Consulting has an immediate need to fill a Chemical Engineer job in the Middletown, NY area. In this role, you will need the ability to develop, maintain and oversee manufacturing processes at a growing manufacturer of flavors/fragrances.This Chemical Engineer will be responsible for the design and oversight of a complete chemical process system derived from proceed descriptions, plant operational data and/or laboratory data. Processes must satisfy the recommended market requirements or requested quantity of product. These responsibilities include the project engineering necessary to install the designed system. The Chemical Engineer will utilize all the chemical, physical, energy, and mathematical, etc. skills in order to successfully perform all job duties.
Chemical Engineer job responsibilities:
- Provide the physical layout of equipment and instruments.
- Specify and purchase equipment, instruments, and miscellaneous accessories by filling out purchase requisitions.
- Provide for the safety and environmental aspect of both process and project design.
- Develop the process information form (PIF)
- Develop the piping and instrument drawing.
- Develop any additional drawings and/or documents necessary to install the equipment and instruments.
- Perform calibration of all instruments.
- Check existing equipment, instrument, and accessory inventory for needed parts.
- Communicate with other members of the project team, written or verbal.
- Prepare reports, summaries, comparisons etc.
- Assist in environmental, health and safety issues.
- Calculate and design process heating and cooling systems.
- Determine losses of solvents in equipment, as required.
- Perform drafting and minor design changes.
- Provide equipment specifications, procure equipment, and supervise installation.
- Conduct specific trouble shooting assignments, as needed.
Position Requirements
- BS in Chemical Engineering or related BS degree is required
- At least 1-3+ years of experience in a chemical or flavors/fragrance industry manufacturing plant is desired but strong education and internships will be considered. More experience will lead to a higher base salary
- Strong documentation skills required
- Exposure to diverse chemical manufacturing machinery required
