Job Summary:
The production planner is responsible for planning, monitoring and expediting production schedules to meet customer delivery requirements and best utilize the company’s capacity and inventory levels.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Issue work orders for component parts, subassemblies, final assemblies, etc., consistent with suggested MRP output reports, and the master schedule.
- Schedules changes as required by MRP exception reports.
- Report on anticipated delays to relevant individuals and departments.
- Enter new orders into the MRP system consistent with required delivery schedules.
- Develop production lot sizes, at the component level that are sensitive to both inventory goals and machine set-up constraints.
- Analyze inventories and make suggestions for carrying stock levels of component parts.
- Provide departmental coverage in the absence or unavailability of coworkers.
- Suggest and follow through on Continuous Improvement initiatives to increase throughput and drive down lead times.
- Other tasks and duties as assigned by the Technical Operations Manager.
Requirements:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Previous experience working with an MRP based production planning and scheduling system.
- Experience working in a lean manufacturing environment is desirable.
- Three to five years production planning experience preferred.
