Job Summary:
The Quality Inspector is responsible for ensuring that products and processes meet the companys quality standards and specifications. This role involves inspecting and evaluating materials and products to ensure they adhere to product and quality requirements and industry regulations. The Quality Inspector works closely with production, testing and engineering teams to identify quality issues of products within manufacturing as well incoming material, implementing nonconforming material reports and corrective actions as needed, and assist in other areas and projects as directed by management. Will train as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Inspection:
Conduct thorough inspections of materials, assemblies, in-process items, and finished products according to predefined standards and specifications.
Utilize measuring instruments to verify product dimensions
Perform visual inspections to identify any defects or deviations from quality standards.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of inspections and quality control activities.
Prepare detailed non-conformance reports to be submitted to the Quality Manager.
Communicate inspection results to relevant departments and provide recommendations for improvements.
Quality Control:
Monitor and enforce adherence to quality standards and procedures throughout the production and incoming material processes.
Collaborate with the Quality Manager, production and engineering teams to address quality issues.
Participate in the development and review of quality control procedures and standards.
Compliance and Safety:
Ensure compliance with industry regulations, company policies, and safety standards.
Continuous Improvement:
Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
Participate in training and development programs to stay updated on the latest quality control techniques and standards.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree or technical certification in quality control or a related field is a plus.
Experience: Previous experience in a quality inspection role or a similar position is a plus but will train.
Skills:
Understanding of quality control processes and standards.
Ability to utilize measurement tools and equipment.
Able to understand product drawings and similar specification documentation.
Excellent attention to detail.
Able to use typical computer software such as Microsoft Office.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.
Good eyesight
Must have a good attention to detail
Working Conditions and Hours:
Work is performed in a manufacturing environment within the Quality inspection area.
May require occasional overtime but normal hours are 8:00am 4:30pm (M-F)
Knowledge of additional items is a plus, but is not a requirement:
Knowledge of electronic printed circuit boards (PCB) and assemblies is a plus
Knowledge of ISO-9001 quality management system is a plus
Knowledge of AS9100 quality management system for Aerospace and Defense is a plus
Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) is a plus
Knowledge of PCB assemblies, and wire harness manufacturing is a plus
Knowledge of IPC-A-610 / J-STD-001 Soldering standard is a plus
Knowledge of electrostatic discharge (ESD) requirements is a plus
Knowledge of product testing is a plus
