JOB DESCRIPTION:
Job requirements include at least 2 years previous experience in a research animal care facility. Extensive experience and demonstrable proficiency in the safe handling and transfer of nonhuman primates as well as in their medical care, enrichment and behavioral training. Experience in surgical technology and sterilization of instruments. Experience in the design of behavioral training with touch screens.
JOB DUTIES:
Independent training of subjects on cognitive tasks like those used to investigate cognitive dysfunction in human clinical populations. Independent preparation of subjects for both awake and anesthetized functional magnetic imaging and electrophysiological study sessions. Medical care of study subjects, including evening and weekend work as required.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Job requirements include at least 5 years of previous experience in nonhuman primate (NHP) research in neuroscience. The candidate must be proficient in NHP handling and behavioral training as well as drug administration and data collection. The candidate must have experience in pre and post-op medical care and data collection from awake-behaving and anesthetized NHP subjects. The candidate should possess the skills necessary to help refine experimental design.

Prospective appointees will be: 1) Checked against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL) maintained by the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs. Prospective employees whose names appear on the SEL as having been found responsible for serious or repeated acts of abuse or neglect will be barred from appointment. 2) Screened against the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR). Prospective employees whose names are indicated on the SCR may be barred from appointment.
