POSITION SUMMARY: Manage Thruway’s Quality staff to continually improve company quality performance, increase/maintain customer satisfaction, reduce risk and ensure the technical alignment of distributed products to our customers’ requirements.

  • Ensure direct line of communication between quality team and remainder of Thruway organization, customers and supply chain to all quality issues, responsibility to engage the CQEO as needed.
  • Gather and share feedback from branch managers to ensure branch needs are met.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Day-to-day management of the traditional branch quality staff and tactical quality functions
    1. Manage workload and ensure all inspections completed and documented in PQS as required, non-conforming product returns and disposition, quarantine, compliance paperwork (Certs, FAIs, MTR’s), ensure CAPA’s are completed in a timely fashion.
    2. Hiring manager and training coordinator for all reports
    3. Routinely travel to each branch for check-ins and assistance
      • On-call for travel to any TFI branch for on-boarding, gap-filling, training, HR functions (hiring, termination).
      • Tactical “fill-in” until GAP is closed
    4. Work as a liaison between GM and branch quality staff to ensure all branch quality related processes, events and related issues are being managed effectively.
    5. Responsible for coordinating all non-personnel needs (gauges, standards, equipment, etc.)
    6. Responsible for QC staff effectiveness and quarterly reviews
      • Constant communication with each GM for feedback prior to completing the review
      • Work with CQEO on staffing changes required to meet customer needs.
  • Host and manage the following recurring meetings. Tasks inc. invite list, agenda, hold meetings, facilitate discussion, assign/champion sub-projects, review: 5S, Safety, risks and Metrics, publish minutes
    • QMTM - Quality Manager Team Meeting, Bi-weekly
    • QTM – Quality Team Meeting, Monthly
  • Manage Thruway’s safety compliance and summarize monthly safety walk-thru’s for CQEO.
  • Act as point person for all high-risk customer and vendor facing quality issues. From first awareness of issue to all relevant parties, containment, root cause analysis, preventative action and until acceptance of long-term corrective action. Engage GM, CLT and Directors as needed. On call to travel if required.
  • Lead critical root cause analysis and CAPA responses. Ensure CAPA’s timely documented within C-Prop System.
  • Continuously improve operational efficiency and suggest/implement changes to work-instructions, procedures, or quality manual as needed per AS/ISO standard changes.
  • Assist the CQSC (Corp. Quality System Coordinator) with any audit need (certification, internal, external)

REQUIRED COMMUNICATION SKILLS: This Individual must possess a positive attitude and excellent communication skills.

  • Use excellent written, listening, verbal and interpersonal communication skills to deal positively with senior management, sales staff, employees, vendors and customers.
  • Good Judgment and quick decision-making ability.
  • Demonstrated integrity and ethical standards.
  • Self-motivated, manages time effectively, and adapts quickly to changing priorities.
  • Strong leadership, motivation and managerial skills.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Documented experience managing and leading remote distributed teams
  • Acceptance of weekly traveling (personal vehicle)
  • Document auditing experience (ISO, AS or Equivalent)
  • OSHA 30Hour preferred
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 10+ years’ experience
  • Knowledge of manufacturing environments and Electro/Mechanical hardware

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Occasional travel to Thruway branches
  • Multi-tasking fast paced environment
  • Sitting 80% of time, standing and movement 20% of time
