Grammar School STEM Classroom Assistant
JOB SUMMARY:
CGPS seeks a dynamic and creative Grammar School STEM classroom assistant to foster a love of learning and innovation in our K-5 students. The Grammar School STEM Classroom Assistant has a key support role in and out of the classroom to help students succeed. Under the direction of the STEM head teachers, the Classroom Assistant is responsible for ensuring safety by enforcing school and classroom rules. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of both high-tech and low-tech tools and be adept at supporting students through engaging, technology-rich project-based learning experiences. The ideal candidate must enjoy working with children and treat all children with dignity and respect. To excel in this role, the candidate must be flexible, attentive, and willing to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with CGPS’s programs and philosophy.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist students in and out of the classroom
- Prepare materials ahead of time as requested by the head teacher
- Clean up and reorganize the classroom after lessons and between classes
- Supervise STEM classes and other duties
- Participate or provide data on students and document observations about student behavior
- Communicate proactively and professionally about students with teaching and non-teaching staff bearing in mind the impact of confidentiality regarding vulnerable persons
- Support the school’s culture and practices for inclusion
- Conduct all work activities in a professional manner
- Demonstrate commitment to working in a school community
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong commitment to, belief in, and alignment with CGPS’s mission and values
- Flexible to assist the teachers in their duties
- Strong time management skills; ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Possesses strong organizational skills, communication skills (particularly with children), and problem-solving skills
- Is hard-working, energetic, reflective, and willing to learn and adapt
- Experience with using a design process (Design Thinking or other)
- Experience developing and maintaining a maker space, including physical and digital tools and software
- Experience in Project Lead the Way Curriculum a plus
- Experience with troubleshooting basic hardware and software issues relevant to classroom technology and STEAM education
WORK HOURS:
- Hourly: 7:30-3:00, Monday-Friday
- Start Date: August 21, 2025
COMPENSATION:
The salary range for this position is $40,000 - $55,000 annually. We also offer a warm and supportive culture as well as exceptional benefits including but not limited to:
