We are located in Cheektowaga, NY, in a newly air-conditioned facility, and we are seeking a qualified Set Up Technician for the 2nd or 3rd shift.
This is a Temp to hire role.
The successful candidate must be willing to train on 1st shift up to a maximum of 6 months before being placed onto either 2nd or 3rd shift.
Pay Range: $20 - $21 per hour depending on experience plus shift differential of $1.00 / hour.
Schedule: Monday through Friday: 7AM to 3PM during training purposes. Then, move to 2nd shift Monday through Friday 3PM to 11PM or 3rd shift Sunday through Thursday 11PM to 7AM.

- Set up bag machines according to customer orders by making appropriate adjustments to the bag machines, changing rolls promptly, and ensuring a constant supply of materials for the bag operators.
- Troubleshoot and fix set up issues to ensure a quality pouch is being produced.
- Communicate with bag operators to ensure staying on production schedule and continuous operation.
- Operate the bag machines while the operators are at lunch or break.
- Organize the workplace by using a hand truck to move the finished product to the correct location, record and dispose of scrap and garbage, and maintain work area per Safe Quality Food requirement by the end of the shift.
- Assist with special projects as required.
- Train new employees in the different job functions in the bag department.
- Work effectively with all departments to develop multi-functional solutions for customers.
- Maintain a customer-focused perspective in all bag operating functions to ensure that customer needs are successfully met.
- Perform job duties accurately so that other personnel and departments, and customers, receive correct information and/or product.
- Adhere to all ProAmpac policies and procedures to ensure safety, quality, and appropriate conduct within the workplace.
Qualifications, Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent education.
- Minimum of 5 years as a bag operator or other equivalent experience.
- Excellent communication, organizational and multi-tasking skills to communicate effectively with Bag Operators and other personnel.
- Ability to read, comprehend and write, and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers or fellow employees.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to carry out instructions given in written, oral or diagram form and to handle problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to make finite adjustments to machinery and use tools to help with these adjustments.
- Strong ability to communicate professionally with others.
- Knowledge of flexographic packaging is a plus.
Work Environment
Work primarily in a manufacturing or warehouse environment. Hearing protection, safety shoes, vision protection and other necessary PPE as required.
May be exposed to non-toxic/nuisance smells from chemicals, inks, airborne dust, moving mechanical parts, high noise levels and hot/humid environmental conditions in the manufacturing area.

This role will regularly use plant machinery, for which certification may be required. This role routinely works around moving equipment and standing for long hours. May need to get on and off equipment, stairs, this role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands/fingers to type, hold, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
